Most likely you are part of the 80% of us that suffer from acne, but don’t feel bad, you’re not alone. There are literally billions of people that have been where you are right now. With this in mind acne is actually the most common disease worldwide. It is a result of blockages with respect to the skin’s oil glands. The small holes in your skin (pores) connect to oil glands under the skin. These glands make an oily substance called sebum. The pores connect to the glands by a canal called a follicle. In these cases, people generally go to see a dermatologist who can prescribe them various types of topical creams, oral antibiotics, and many other forms of treatment based on the type and severity of their acne. However, many of these options offered by medical professionals are very expensive and leave your skin not only dry and flakey, but even redder than it was before. I’ve been down this same road; having tried medicated washes (benzyl peroxide), antibiotics (doxycycline and minocycline), and even home remedies such as citrus facial masks. Nothing really seemed to work as well as it was said to.
